Environmental Officer
Conduct environmental monitoring and surveys, maintain calibration and sampling records, and prepare compliance reports for clients and regulators. Environmental science or engineering background with ISO 14001 familiarity.
About the Role
The Environmental Officer carries out the monitoring, sampling and survey work that sits behind our clients' environmental permits — and writes the reports that the regulator will read.
The work spans ambient air and noise monitoring, water and effluent sampling, marine turbidity during dredging, waste tracking and site environmental inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out ambient air, noise, dust and water quality monitoring using calibrated instrumentation
- Collect, label, preserve and dispatch samples with correct chain of custody
- Maintain calibration schedules and records for all monitoring equipment
- Conduct environmental site inspections and record findings with photographic evidence
- Support environmental baseline surveys and impact assessment fieldwork
- Monitor turbidity and silt curtain performance during marine and dredging works
- Track waste segregation, manifests and licensed disposal routes
- Prepare monitoring reports for clients and regulatory submissions
- Support the ISO 14001 environmental management system, including aspects and impacts registers
Required Qualifications
- Education: bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience: minimum 3 years in environmental monitoring, consultancy or compliance
- Practical experience with monitoring and sampling equipment
- Good written English — reports must be regulator-ready
- Transferable Iqama or Saudi national
Preferred / Desirable
- ISO 14001 Internal or Lead Auditor certification
- Experience with National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) requirements
- Marine or coastal survey experience
- Valid Saudi driving licence
Skills & Competencies
- Rigorous about methodology — a sample taken wrong is worse than no sample
- Comfortable working outdoors in Saudi field conditions
- Clear technical writing
- Able to explain a finding to a client who does not want to hear it
