Course Overview

Rigging competence is judged on the ground, not in the classroom. Our rigging yard lets learners calculate, select, inspect, rig and land real loads under supervision, progressing from single-point lifts to multi-crane and engineered lift planning.

What You Will Be Able to Do

  • Calculate load weight, centre of gravity and sling tension
  • Select and inspect slings, shackles and lifting accessories
  • Apply correct hitches, angles and de-rating factors
  • Give clear, standard crane hand and radio signals
  • Contribute to and read an engineered lift plan

  1. Lifting equipment types, terminology and regulations
  2. Load weight estimation and centre of gravity
  3. Sling angles, tension and working load limits
  4. Wire rope, chain, synthetic slings and shackles
  5. Pre-use inspection and rejection criteria
  6. Hitches, spreader bars, equalisers and tag lines
  7. Standard hand signals and radio communication
  8. Lift planning, critical lifts and exclusion zones
